Consider this part one of a two-part √thumm special, as I’ll have a review of the electro-dance trio’s debut album up before Christmas. Then, the blog will go on a brief holiday vacation and be back early next year. But first…a remix.
The funny-named band tackle British folkie Bruno Merz’s “Golden Days.” Merz usually sticks to a very stripped down sound, so √thumm drop a backbeat behind the piano keys and guitar. They also semi-submerge Merz’s vocals at the chorus, a move that works surprisingly well. Overall, a nice mix that adds a little thump to Merz’s crooning. Listen to it at Flake Records MySpace.
