On one hand, the existence of the terribly named Naked Boyz…a 44-member strong performance group basically taking the AKB48 blueprint and replacing “girls” with “guys”…signals a tiny bit of gender progress in Japan. Now women have a large mass of pop stars to stare at! Yet on the other hand…anything that continues growing the AKB48 style of pop (spectacle over anything remotely catchy) shouldn’t be tolerated. Oh, and that name. Lord knows what databases I’ll be appearing on in the next day.
