Digi Twee: The Someday’s “Remember Me”

It’s a simple addition, but one that makes “Remember Me” far more, uhhh, memorable than a lot of other indie-pop-leaning numbers coming out of Japan over the last few years. Osaka’s The Somedays give the song all the hallmarks of a typically twee number – a slouching rhythm designed for melancholy walks near bodies of water, ennui-soaked lyrics delivered with the faintest tinge of hope, some nice-and-simple guitar playing. The Somedays, though, add a nice amount of digital touches to the song, giving it an extra layer of interest, primarily via the decision to allow the lead vocals to be manipulated ever-so-slightly. The fluttering synths don’t hurt either. Listen above.
