New Michiyo Honda: “Sorry”

One of the more straightforward numbers to come out of Michiyo Honda’s 2011 monthly singles project, “Sorry” bounces ahead on a club-ready beat and slightly affected vocals. She works in a fair amount of glitchy touches – check the way things just sort of come in and out of this song almost randomly – but this is mostly an uncomplicated bit of throbbing dance music with some nice vocals on top. It also sounds a lot like Nuxx, which is always good in my book. Get it on iTunes!

Also, revisiting all of her 2011 output, Honda has managed a really strong album if you were to combine all her songs into one package. One of Japan’s sneakier pop minds of this past year.
