日本が誇る優れたインディー・ポップを送り出すネット・レーベルAno(t)raksからヒネリの効いた新しいコンピレーション・アルバムがリリースされました。去年リリースされたSoonを追ってリリースされたこのUpwards And Onwards EPでは、このレーベル特有のTweeなイメージに留まらず、幅広い音楽性を堪能する事ができます。東京のCanopies And Drapesからは銀河鉄道の夜からインスパイアされた “G&C – Giovanni And Campanella” 、そしてそれを追うのはエレクトロ・ファンクが特徴的なKai Takahashの“1980”。Soft As Snow But Warm Insideによる“When The Nightmare Ends”は、空間が上手く使われていて、ゆったりとしていて浮遊感のある音世界を演出しています。一番の驚きは福岡のJAM The MODによる８分にも及ぶ傑作“2nd Rainbows”。アルバム内でも特に優れたトラックと言えるでしょう。ドラマチックなイントロ、輝かしいメロディー、そして時折姿を現すノイジーなギターからなる美しい曲の展開は圧巻です。JAM The MOD…今年最も注目すべきバンドの１つでしょう。 でもやっぱりAno(t)raksのコンピなので、新しい挑戦はありつつもインディ・ポップという本質は決して失われてません。Boyish、The Paellas、FoodieやPost Modern Team（“Someday”はこの中でも特に完成度が高く、“Never Let You Down”や“Heartbreak”にも引けを取りません）等、ここ数年日本のインディー・シーンに注目していた人にはおなじみのバンドも。The Shipの“Her Secret”やThe Vanitiesの“Gabriel’s Blue Hat”は彼らの今までの作品と比べても特に優れています。新しいバンドもおなじみのバンドも上手く混ざり合った、今の音楽を象徴するこのコンピ。全ての瞬間が素晴らしいです。ダウンロードはこちらから。
