As part of a new art gallery he is putting on, painter Kentaro Minoura has recruited three electronic artists (and, uh, himself) to make music to accompany the new exhibition. The Void EP (same name as the gallery) finds Minoura getting some pretty solid names to join in, highlighted by Kyoto’s Madegg, who made two songs (not appearing on his forthcoming album) for the EP. Opener “DFY” glides by with a bit of percussive switch ups, a soft opening for a collection that is mostly anything but, while “Fashion Week” goes for something more mysterious and natural (bird chirps, or at least something resembling them). On the other end of the spectrum is Wasabi Tapes’ Nicole Brennan, with “Scary Moments 029” and “Scary Moments 030,” two songs of HD-worthy noise, making for an intriguing chaos.
