New Kinocohotel: “もえつきたいの”
I’ve been seeing this band a lot of places recently…primarily, on MySpace banner ads and the covers of magazines. Dismissing Kinocohotel based on their fashion wouldn’t be a radical decision, seeing as this four-piece dresses up as sexy hotel workers employed at a Sgt. Pepper’s themed resort. But there newest single “もえつきたいの” actually allows one to forgive their dress choice. The song works a Nuggets-ish vibe, with it’s “96 Tears” organ lines and rough recording techniques. It’s a nice recreation of 60s psych pop, though I couldn’t see any band from back then making themselves out to be bellhops.
