New Miila: “Give Me A Chocolate”

Miila, half of Love And Hates, has a new song up on her MySpace that’s either already outdated or perfectly timed depending on your perspective. “Give Me A Chocolate” could be either Valentine’s Day appropriate or the perfect White Day jam. Regardless, the song rides a post-punk guitar riff and some dusty drum beats for three-some minutes while Miila sings about all the things she wants some unknown “you” to give her – money, a birthday cake, etc. Kinda like Girl’s “Lust For Life” but slower and sans pizza.

Projects shrouded in mystery — especially ones featuring a healthy amount of Japanese — raise a lot of suspicion nowadays, rightfully so. Maybe Pasocom Music Club lives in Wichita, or maybe it is some sort of SoundCloud bot pumping out effortlessly smooth grooves. But they are just so relaxing, easy-going (and far from complicated) creations…

  • New Snail’s House: “Alien Pop III”

The Alien Pop series of releases from Snail’s House have been Keitaro Ujiie’s strongest creations to date, although it’s worth noting electro-pop numbers hit my personal taste zone way more than others. Two of Osaka’s brightest music producers collide on this fun little experiment. Both artists contribute an original song…and then the other goes and remixes into something totally different. Booty Tune staple D.J. Fulltono brings his skittering juke sound on “Baby Je Kajoo,” a fast-paced albeit slightly too long number. The always-unpredictable Seiho steps up, slows…
