No More Summer: Shtreimels’ “Yacht”

OK, here’s the song to officially soundtrack the definite end of summer 2013, courtesy of Fukuoka outfit Shtreimels (who do not put much information about themselves online). “Yacht” is a downcast guitar number that certainly takes cues from New Jersey outfits like Real Estate and (especially) Ducktails, full of reverb and with lazily unfolding vocals that are often hard to make out. “You don’t know even now where you supposed to be/You’re sure you have got something to do,” the lyrics go (they put them up on the site for this song) and the way they wrap around the melancholy guitar makes this sound all the more world-weary.     東京のプロデューサーOKLobbyの作品にはよく、”リゾート”っていうキーワードがでてきますね。かれのデビューEPのタイトルも”Resortworks“でしたし、収録曲からは”Mind Resort Scidaria”というタイトルも見受けられます。バンド名に含まれる”Lobby”という単語は、2012頃から存在したシティ・ポップやvaporwaveを連想させますが、どうやら違う模様。むしろ、同じ東京のプロデューサーTaquwamiがここ最近手がけている音に近く、Resortworksの三曲からは猛烈な打ち込みドラムと切り刻まれたボーカルのサンプルが聴こえます。TaquwamiのBlurrywonderは、不鮮明でもやもやしたサウンドが渦巻き、それが作品の魅力なのですが、OKLobbyはというと、もっと鮮明で、クリアなサウンドが印象的です。”Mind Resort Scidaria”なんかでは子供達の声や、アラビア風の歌唱みたいなものが、シンセサイザーの土台の上で歌っています。”Fireworks”ではエフェクトがかけられたボーカルがフィーチャーされているものの、複雑になっていく曲の後半までは、とても鮮麗されています。 Resortworks E.P. by OKLobby 上で紹介した曲以外にも”Life Is A Short Life” という曲があって、これはまだ数少ないリリースの中でも最高にチルド・アウトしています。視聴は以下から。
