Sometimes, it’s best to stop chasing what is happening RIGHT THIS INSTANCE in favor of seeing what slipped through the cracks, both on a larger scale and just on a personal level. For me, that was chancing across (via Twitter) producer and singer I Am Not Rainy Girl, who has released a lot of great electro-pop over the past year. The highlight is “Dust,” a twinkling bit of pop bringing to mind Capsule circa Phony Phonic, cheery and guided by her airy vocals. She’s capable of more thumping fare too, spotlighted by the skittery “Kill The Girl” (above), which lets some hard-hitting beats carry the twee-er elements forward, while she can do sparse well too on the spacious “Film Noir,” below.
