In which Taquwami takes us on a miniature adventure. “Aj Mo Ka” is one of the more structurally ambitious songs the producer has created to date, as it is split into three distinct sections, each with a definitive sound, but compatible with one another. The first stretch features string plucks, piano, bells and what sounds like cicadas squeaking off in the distance. It’s Taquwami at his most meditative, a summery reflection where time practically stands still. Then things get more narcotized for the second stretch, which is more electronic and more disjointed. The beat clatters, synths burn out and then it transitions into the glittery home stretch, all twinkles going off against a slow-rolling synthesizer. Listen above.
