Do you ever find yourself sitting in a coffee shop, just staring out the window at the neighborhood in front of you, kind of dazing off and ignoring all the stuff you really should be dealing with? Tokyo trio Baby Fire’s “Water” is an optimal soundtrack for just this, as it is an indie-pop number with half-submerged vocals and twinkling notes that add a dash of optimism to this smudged bit of daydreaming. “Indigo” isn’t quite as easy to get lost in — while “Water” wanders in a way that’s always compelling, the second song meanders — but the first track is strong enough to make them a young outfit to keep an eye on. And to turn to when you need to get some mental escape. Get it here, or listen below.
