Whoa, this blog has seen a spike in visitors over the last day! I mean, a spike for a site this tiny means 30 views, but I’m still excited by it, even if it’s just a bunch of stray folks who searched for “chiptune” and ended up here (sorry). So, since slightly more people may be looking at this and I have a typhoon to worry about, I pose a question:

Where do you find out information about Japanese music? Any websites you check everyday? TV shows you can’t miss? I don’t know, magazines? And since nearly all of these new hits are coming via that FLOPPY-chiptune post, any good sources for Japanese chiptune I should know about? Please share them with the world in a comment!

Thank you very much! And hey, worse comes to worse, look at that dog. Great dog.

  • JAM The MOD: “Since Tomorrow”

  • New Old Video: √thumm’s “NEU!”

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWwNiQ4GiGw&hl=en_US&fs=1&] I totally missed it, but √thumm made a video for their propulsive electro-jam “NEU!” back in December. Since I’m all about late news (or, more accurately, the band’s debut album was an absolute beast) I’m sharing it in all it’s psychy goffiness. The fuzzy yellow rabbit guy from the Coton album cover plays a…

  • No Not That One: End’s Not Near’s “Indian Summer”

It’s appropriate that Japanese experimental artist End’s Not Near’s song “Indian Summer” was made for a movie. The Meso-Meso-minimalism-by-way-of-post-rock sound of the track lends itself to acting as a soundtrack, but “Indian Summer” is so much more than some ambient gauze. This song manages to stand out divorced from whatever images its meant to go…
