Listen To White Wear’s Black Strings Now

Bits and pieces from this, CUZ ME PAIN project White Wear’s debut album, have been popping up over the last few months. Yet the final product, Black Strings, has been only available in stores in Japan since its release. Now, though, White Wear has uploaded the whole thing to SoundCloud so everyone can enjoy the smoothness he conjures up on Black Strings. In many ways, it still fits in wonderfully within the CUZ ME PAIN universe, as White Wear has created a dance-oriented album still brimming with mysterious vocal touches and synth washes. Yet this is also as chilled out as any project under the CUZ ME PAIN umbrella has ever sounded – even with sorta creepy vocal additions, something like “She’s Green Eyes” is really strut worthy. And “I Hate Rainbow” sounds…sensual. Listen below.

    大阪のSarahry Recordsが９月２２日に境のパンゲア・カフェでイベントをやるみたいです。80年代にイギリスにあったインディ・ポップレーベル、Sarah Recordsに捧げるイベントで、大阪で注目を集めるギター・ポップバンドが数々出演します。コンピレーション・アルバムも発売される予定で、出演バンドの曲や、Sarah Recordから生まれた名曲などがカバーされ、収録される予定です。ネットにアップされているのも同じ観点から制作されていて、Wallflowerによるブライターの”Does Love Last Forever?”のカバーや、 Lilacによるヘブンリーの”Cool Guitar Boy”のカバーからは、ギター・ポップに対する愛や誠意が伝わってきます。でも、フィールド・マイスの”Emma’s House”はFandazeによってちょっと調節されすぎていて、テンポがゆっくりになってたりします。（私が一番好きなインディ・ポップの曲なのもあって）やっぱりオリジナルのほうがいいな、って思います。 ページへはこちらから。視聴は以下から。Backyard Party in Popability! by Sarahry Records 他のニュースといえば、Traffic Lightが、長年続けられてるアン・アーバーのプロジェクト、サタデイ・ルックス・グッド・トゥー・ミーとスプリット・EPを出した事です。渋谷のViolet And Claireストアか、ネットでもこちらのサイトから購入可能です。現在視聴はできないのですが、ベテランと組んでのリリースはTraffic Lightにとって大きなステップなのではないでしょうか。

    Elen Never SleepsとSuper VHSがスプリットEPを発表しました。White Surrender/Stuck On Youに収録された曲は、どちらも彼らの今までのスタイルとは異なった方向性となり、新しい可能性を追求した良作と言えるでしょう。Elen Never Sleepsによる”White Surrender”は、今までのドリーミーなサウンドより、少しくっきりとした曲です。きちんと輪郭のあるボーカルに時折囁くようなコーラスが混ざり、ギターとミニマルなビートの上に重ねられています。ボーカルはハイトーンではやや不安定なものの、ミニマルな曲に上手くマッチしています。Super VHSの”Stuck On You”は、彼の楽曲の中でもダントツにガレージ・ロック寄りと言えるでしょう。短いものの、バックグラウンドに面白いノイズが使われていて興味深いです。 EPには東京のトラックメーカー、Taquwamiによるリミックスも含まれています。不思議なことにWhite Surrenderのリミックスは、すごくドリーミーに作られているため、本人達の物より、過去のElen Never Sleepsスタイルに近く感じられます。遅くされたボーカルを除けばElenのオリジナルのようになるでしょう。Taquwamiのサイドプロジェクト、Occult YouとしてリミックスされたStuck On Youは、ガレージからガラリと変わり、Toro-Y-Moiのようなダンスチューンになっています。視聴、ダウンロード(無料)は以下より。 White Surrender / Stuck On You by Gay Vegan Vinyl Cassette
