Low-Key Dice Roll: Annie Acnes “Detour”

Annie Acnes boasts very little info on the internet — SoundCloud says they are a duo, and the link to their official web page…leads to the web’s most extensive mathematics resource. I also have zero confirmation of where they are based out of — this could be a teen taking a break from spamming the “Japan” tag at Bandcamp with his vaporwave EP. But also, maybe not! So let’s take a risk, mainly because “Detour” is a nice skeletal shuffler, a sort of Jungle Cruise theme song aimed at the club. The animal sounds — including, like, barely there grunts — add to the atmosphere, and ultimately make for a relaxing but physical song. Listen above.
