New i-fls: Inverted Waves

Always worth interrupting a writing hiatus to mention that Tokyo’s i-fls has a new album out online. And this one takes on special meaning as it is the Garageband-leaning producers first full-length since the first half of 2014, which feels like quite the vacation for an artist who used to get new music out at a monthly rate. Yet the wait just makes Inverted Waves all the more special, and a great way to close out the year. Get it here, or listen below.

The semi-mysterious (but probably just because of a general lack of information) William Wilson project has a new, weekend-worthy track out in the online wilds. Called “Hito Tsubu Nomi Hose,” it is an easygoing number prodded on by a gentle beat and some porch-side guitar playing…though a slight electronic presence whirs behind it all, adding…

  • Another Spazzy Day: CUSTOM NOISE’s “Candy Girl”

Ho hum, another day and another Japanese band working in jittery rock full of group shouts and stuttering guitar. Kyoto’s CUSTOM NOISE join the likes of Africaemo and fellow all-caps users NOKIES! in making manic music almost seemingly ready to explode into a thousand different directions with each passing second. • Not Lethargic: Head On The Sofa

    – Lost in the shuffle of the New Year, Osaka’s And Vice Versa released a new EP via Kiniro Tapes.
