Osaka’s Metome continues his 2013 hot streak, and now he’s hooking up with some outside-Japan forces to take it all even further. He’s released a new song, “Time After Time,” on S Y Z Y G Y, a label that seems like a good fit for Metome’s color-rush of music. “Time After Time” is one of his most high-tension joints yet – he’s still building frantic, synth-heavy wobblers around surprisingly untouched vocal samples. But everything feels more ratcheted up, more energetic. A lot of that goes to his choice in sample, going for a vocal that does not hold anything back. And holy moley, did I not expect this…dude swiped some vocals from Jason Derulo (his track “Breathing“), and made them sound insane surrounded by all those colorful synths. Though here’s a little credit to Mr. Derulo…when he shouts “I only miss you when I’m breathing!,” he sounds damn fine. Listen below.
