New Secret Space: “Past”

The sound of rain and a school chime…Secret Space delivers right on the title from the start before introducing a delicate synth skip accompanied by bell shakes that makes up the bulk of his latest. Taking cues from the nostalgia-tinged sounds of i-fls or Shortcake Collage Tape, it’s a fragile little song where those samples creep up later on, joined by children laughing (it sounds like). It isn’t a full blown ode to youth gone by, but rather like a sudden memory flashing by and all the emotion that comes with it. That makes it better. Listen below.

A lot of shoegazey/dreamy/yr-term-of-choice gets featured around these parts. Lemon’s Chair sorta fits the bill…it’s got that hazy guitar sound that usually forces necks downwards.
