Alright, go ahead and don’t dwell on the image above. Shintaro Katagiri seems to be a big fan of EarthBound, but new track “Airplane” sounds nothing like video game background music. Katagiri saves his game file to go out on a Saturday night (errrr, metaphorically) – “Airplane” is guided by neon streaks of keyboard that are on some Cut Copy shit, but anchors the whole song with a four-on-the-floor beat and some far-off echoes of vocals. It’s an uncomplicated, lively dance track begging for some club attention. When he can make stuff this solid, why bother with video game comparisons? Save for a lack of press shots. Listen here.
