New Tokyo Pinsalocks: “LU-LA Hallelujah”

[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBisYebuHhk”]

This one dropped late last night, so apologies for not getting around to it until now. Yet Tokyo Pinsalocks strike me as a group where immediate consumption isn’t necessarily, a slower gestation period perfectly fine for a band like this has been around for a decade now. Whereas young bands (in any part of the world) stare into the whirlpool that is the Internet hype cycle and pinch their noses ready to dive in, Tokyo Pinsalocks have reached a musical age where they just do what they do, which is compose floaty synth-pop with a rocking edge (they are actually probably a good example of early tech-rock, and the fact Nuxx and √thumm play with them so frequently sorta drives that point home). “LU-LA Hallelujah” pits a bouncy melody against electronic sounds summed up by the accompanying video, the image of the trio wearing glow sticks stepping in the place of a press release to describe the sound of the song. The chorus steals the show though, pace increased and joined by electro burping sounds that could have been jacked from the original Pac-Man machine. “LU-LA Hallelujah” is the sound of hard-earned seniority, a group who spent years carving out a sound feeling at home in it.

  • Stuff We Missed 2012: CRZKNY And Atomic Bomb Compilation

The World Five Minutes From Now”と”Statement”は早めの曲で、Juke特有のユニークは陰に潜み、激しく、かつ混沌としています。”

  • New Mitsume: “Memai”

    After deconstructing themselves thoroughly on last year’s wonderful Sasayaki, Tokyo’s Mitsume are back with a new EP this May, and they’ve shared the title track to it. “Memai” isn’t quite as stripped down as some of the highlights from 2014, yet it does nail the repetition they do so well, sprinkled with dizzying electronic details….

  • Threedays Film

    A lot of people moan about “indie” music nowadays, how it all sounds the same and how so many bands eschew taking risks in favor of playing it boringly safe in hopes of landing on a movie trailer. And those people would be…pretty damn right, actually, there is a lot of pulse-less “indie” being put…

    Long-running electronic artist Hiroshi Watanabe has released a decent amount of music under the name Kaito, yet he’s mostly been taking it easy in 2015. Yet as the end of the year starts creeping up, he’s gone and shared two new live recordings of previously unreleased tracks on his own. These aren’t little presents, though….
