Here’s a retro style not many bands are clamoring back to – ’50s lounge. It’s the type of stuff some people claim sounds great as background music but can actually be entirely captivating, even if you aren’t sipping on a martini. Osaka’s Sentimental Toy Palette chooses to embrace this oft-ignored style, and they play it completely straight. They let the female vocals fill the entire spotlight, the backing music content to create a jazzy blanket unfurling along with the singing. And that voice…an absolute knockout. Sentimental Toy Palette don’t have many songs floating around online at the moment, but what is offered makes for a relaxed and engrossing listen. Consider it the original chill music.

  • New CRZKNY: Seventeen Lost Souls UPDATED

UPDATE: Well, turns out Seventeen Lost Souls ISN’T online any longer. Bummer. But CRZKNY did upload a new song to celebrate 2013 called “Tornado Alley” which would have fit in lovely on that album. Listen to it…and download it…here.
