The Rouxtz fit into that musical category of bands not easy to categorize. This trio’s music runs on aggressive guitar playing and furious drum smashing, but is far too weird to simply be filed away under “alt rock.” The closest comparison I can think up would be a less neat Perfect Piano Lesson, their music less structured and designed to allow the band to wander off in all sorts of directions. “Super Good” features guitar flipouts and even some strange vocal trips, but always manages to chug forward thanks to the drums and bass. Meanwhile, “I Wanna Be With You’s” distant singing makes the track feel downright epic, even if the music around it is extremely tight. Give it a listen and classify it how you like.
