Besides making original music worthy of soundtracking a move to a misty forest, Qrion is among Japan’s best remixers right now thanks to her ability to find a new angle to an existing song without sacrificing the spirit of the untouched version in the process. That’s all on display in her rework of Aristophanes’ “Peach Blossom,” which premiered over at Nest HQ late last week. The distinct vocals of Aristophanes remain, but whereas they once practically pricked the skin, Qrion moves them ever so slightly back and surrounds them in a vocal haze. She takes it to a mysterious place…but the heart of the original “Peach Blossom” still beats clearly. Listen above.
