The New House
Is describing a band’s music as “like The Strokes” still a no-no? Tokyo’s The New House sound a lot like The Strokes, or at least they possess those garage-rock qualities everyone loved back at the start of the decade. Heck, one of their tracks (“Social Evils and a Potato (Hamon Mix)”) sounds like it might have been recorded in a garage.
The New House stand out as the most rocking of the Good On The Dancefloor collective members. The synths are kept at a minimum and the guitars get top billing. The fuzzy songs streaming at their MySpace all follow the same template (upbeat guitars + catchy vocals + a great backing beat) but they’ve got the formula down well. Check out the especially speedy “Wash My Bones” and “Kill The House,” the danciest track on display here.
