The one sonic element uniting all of information-lacking project Fairy Floss‘ music is how mum the lead vocals sound. Everything else is subject to change track to track – “Just” barrels forward on punk guitar chugs, while “Sugar Drems” is all drum-machine stutters, twinkling electronics and melodica. Yet both songs, whether playing it abrasive or sweet, makes the singing sound like its just floating over the surrounding music, adding an enchanting…though also somewhat unsettling…quality to both songs. On the indie-pop strummer “Bye Bye My Horror Games,” that decision takes an otherwise twee little song and turns it intriguing.
