全く予想していなかった事が起きました…東京のCanopies And Drapesがヒップ・ホップに挑戦したみたいです。最近できた新しい音楽ブログ、Lights + Music（見てね！）が最近インタビューしたのですが、”Chocolate Song” という新曲にはなんとゲストとして、オノマトペ大臣が参加しています。Canopies And Drapesの可愛らしくドリーミーなサウンドはそのままに、ラップ・ビートを使って、オノマトペ大臣がその上にラップできるように作られています。でも正直言うと、Canopies And Drapesの曲をバックグラウンドに使う場合、ラップよりも歌もののほうがマッチする気はします。一番印象的だったディテールはというと、Canopies And Drapesが数回 “Lay yourself beside me”と歌うところで、Weekendの影響かな？と思いました。この可愛らしいディテールが、彼女のタレントを改めて感じさせてくれます。
Well here’s something I didn’t see coming; Tokyo’s Canopies And Drapes went and made a hip-hop track. New music blog Lights + Music (check ’em out!) recently interviewed her, and alongside the guest list feature was a new number called “Chocolate Song,” featuring an appearance from rapper Onomatope Daijin. Canopies And Drapes’ dreamy twinkle sound remains intact, but here it is sculpted into a rap beat for Onomatope Daijin to flow over. It’s a serviceable bit of hip-hop, though Canopies And Drapes’ music works way better as a background for someone to sing over than rap. The best detail here, though, is a detail that pops p right at the beginning, presumably Canopies And Drapes singing the words “Lay yourself beside me” a couple of times (possibly a Weeknd reference?). It’s a pretty detail that is a nice reminder of how rich her creations can be.
