Lulu’s been on a tear over the past year creating sentimental numbers, but they tend to come out in two ways. There are the songs she does completely, which have a bedroom quality to them that let the emotions hang out raw. And then there are the songs where she gets outside production assists, which get a sparkly sheen that brings out every detail of her voice and lyrics. “Bougquet” falls in the latter category, with the duo Mikeneko Homeless reprising their role on “Watermelon” and the This Christmas Lovely Day EP, joined this time by Batsu. It’s Lulu’s biggest stab at the spotlight yet, the music giving her a chance to show off her singing, and the chorus being loaded up with backing vocals to really amp the drama. Listen above.
