The ever-prolific Kyoto space-brain Madegg’s latest number, “Parasol,” comes off as more straightforward than some of his other recent material. It still contains the Brainfeeder-leaning spaciness that should get Flying Lotus to make the dude official Japanese resident for the label, but it’s not quite as wormhole-ready, something a bit simpler to understand. “Parasol” is mostly just some kitchen-counter beats…by which I mean, this sounds like something he recorded on a literal kitchen sink…with some electronic stardust sprinkled over that.
