Producer mus.hiba has a new EP out at the end of the month, and he’s shared a taste of it with “Heya.” Still central to his music is the voice of Sekka Yufu, generated by a Vocaloid-like software called Utau, and chilliness remains the dominant atmosphere. “Heya” is on the sparse side, crackling forward, and with the digi-singing of Yufu coming across like a whisper. It’s a bit cold…but intimate, and mus.hiba remains one of the few Japanese artists really tinkering with singing-synthesizer technology. Listen above.
