Rock quartet Merpeoples came into 2010 one of the more hyped up bands in Japan, and on February 17 the world will see whether they deserve such pub when they release their debut mini album. Up to this point though, the press seems warranted. Watch the video for the off-kilter-but-catchy song “Picasso” below. Something about the guitars seem just off and those phony horn keyboard stabs couldn’t be any more gaudy, but the band find a way to guide a great pop melody through that sonic obstacle course and everything gels together in the end.
