Drafted: The Navy’s “Borderline”

This is technically a remastered take on quartet The Navy’s “Borderline,” but it’s the first I’ve heard of it and I can’t find more info on when it might have first come out (have you tried Googling “The Navy”)…so it’s like it is brand new to me! And it sounds lovely, the band creating a forceful rock number highlighted by the vocals, from the lead vocalists’ delivery — which can move from relaxed to intense quickly — to the harmonizing going on behind her throughout the song. Listen above.

  • New CRZKNY: Seventeen Lost Souls UPDATED

UPDATE: Well, turns out Seventeen Lost Souls ISN’T online any longer. Bummer. But CRZKNY did upload a new song to celebrate 2013 called “Tornado Alley” which would have fit in lovely on that album. Listen to it…and download it…here.

The fuzz-loving band recently released their first cassette tape, featuring six songs. Two previously released cuts made the tape, but the rest is new, highlighted by the slowly…

  • New Luka Uemura: EP/3

Talk about bad timing – I wrote about electro-dude Luka Uemura on May 3, bookmarking his Bandcamp page and assuming he wouldn’t post any new stuff for a while. Two days later, he uploaded EP/3, an ambient-focused release. I’m just now noticing it, but it still deserves some attention. On the previously noted EP/2, Uemura…

  • Panda Alert: Buzzu’s “明朝”

[youtube=”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNIsBHfCQkI”] The song itself is pretty good – a mostly laid-back rock number sung in mumbles before sorta cresting at the chorus. Solid enough if not something you’ll remember next week. What is memorable about Osaka band Buzzu’s new song “明朝” is actually the video, in which some dudes dress up in panda costumes and…
