Friends Rename Themselves To Teen Runnings, Post A Demo Collection

In news that was inevitable, fuzzy beach-pop group Friends changed their name. From now on they will be known as Teen Runnings, which I like to imagine came about because the band watched Cool Runnings and thought “teen” was a synonym for “cool.” Anyway, this had to happen because Brooklyn group Friends, responsible for this song, nabbed a lot of buzz last fall and basically made it impossible for the Japanese Friends to garner any future Western hype because bloggers would get confused. Hence, Teen Runnings.

To celebrate this re-christening, Teen Runnings have posted a collection of demos to Bandcamp which you can check out here. A few of these were kickin’ around during the Friends’ days, while “Why Does Everybody Do?” and “Next Summer We’ll Meet Again” look like new unearthings, at least to me. Listen to feedback-laden surf demos below!
