Metrotune continue to fake out listeners by naming new songs after musical artifacts from the 60s. Last time they invoked the Yardbirds, and on new track “Sunny Afternoon” they borrow the title from a Kinks’ tune. Yet as was the case with “Yardbirds,” Metrotune’s latest won’t be featured in any Wes Anderson soundtracks anytime soon. Here the mysterious producer dives into bright, glitchy territory, the bubbly collage-feel of “Sunny Afternoon” recalling the likes of Prefuse 73 or Bibio. As long as you don’t expect a Woodstock revival you should be pleased. Listen here.
