Talk about welcoming timing – I started my day reading this horribly bleak interview at Eye Weekly. It’s the type of article that makes a music writer depressed enough to wonder “what’s the point” as they stare blankly at their WordPress dashboard. Minutes later though, I clicked on a Pitchfork story about Pavement adding reunion dates in Europe, only to discover an update revealing they’d also penciled in four Japanese dates. Suddenly, all that musical cynicism vanished because one of the best bands I’ve ever listened to were back and coming to my neck of the woods.
Hopefully, I’m not the only nerd pumped to see one of the most influential indie acts back together on this side of the planet. Dust off your copy of Slanted And Enchanted (or, if you were too young the first time around like me, the deluxe edition) and check out the Japanese dates below (via Pitchfork).
04-07 Tokyo, Japan – Studio Coast
04-08 Tokyo, Japan – Studio Coast
04-10 Osaka, Japan – Zepp Osaka
04-12 Nagoya, Japan – Zepp Nagoya
I’ve already got the Osaka date penciled in on my calendar. Make Believe Melodies will let you know when tickets go on sale, though all help is welcome!
