Sparseness is the move for Rionos on “Cache Cache,” a barely-there wisp of a song dusted with synthesizer and a dramatic build. This is the style she’s been exploring for the last few years, but “Cache Cache” is a particularly enveloping entryway into her sound. Piano and her voice usher the listener in, but from there electronic flourishes creep in to the minor-key number, like it’s haunted. It would all sound intriguing, but Rionos ups the tension with sudden musical swells and her vocal delivery — longing and punctuated by moments where she practically loses her breath. Listen above.
