I’m mainly used to Mikeneko Homeless singing about soba and asking for money, so forgive me for taking a second to catch up to them providing the production for a grooving, sentimental number. “Watermelon” finds them working with singer Lulu for a laid-back song, one tagged as “future sentimental” which is a nice little idea. Despite the implication of looking forward, though, “Watermelon” is pretty short on techno-flair and instead zeroes in on Lulu’s voice, Mikeneko Homeless conjuring up a pretty slight backdrop for her.
