Following a great mini-album from near the start of the year, Nagoya’s Crunch have a new three-song set up on Bandcamp that continues the momentum established on their debut release. The highlight is “Simple Mind,” a stomping indie-pop number made melancholy via some especially nice vocal backing “oooooos.” Crunch have toed this line between driving and downtrodden before, but none better than “Simple Mind,” that almost goes overboard by adding strings but avoids overdosing on them. “Holiday” moves at a more relaxed pace while still striking the same balance…and featuring some nice echo-y vocals…and is a nice comedown following the rush of “Simple Mind.” Rounding it out – a remix of the title track by Fredricson.
