Michiyo Honda’s “Monthly Release Project” seems to be turning into an experiment in confusing meanings. Her previous release was the woozy “Your Voice,” a song that existed somewhere between consciousness and slumber. Now she introduces her latest clever treat, “GAME BOYZ (Don’t You Want A Real Girlfriend).” The title hints at what, ostensibly, is every gamer geek’s dream – a woman cooing into their ear the question “don’t you want a real girlfriend” while burning through Portal 2. Honda ups the sexy atmosphere by crafting a club sound, a dance-floor-ready beat rubbing up against sleazy synths that make her flirtations even more urgent. “Keep pushing/it’s so good/touch me/caress me like lovers” and yeah, dude has to put down the 3DS for that. “GAME BOYZ” grinds forward from there, becoming more orgasmic with each brush until an appropriate ending that probably doesn’t require anymore sexual innuendo. And yeah…this is a song possibly about seducing a video game nerd. “You turn it on/now turn me on” Honda opens with, and no rare mount can be worth passing up this hot mess.
