Predawn’s music has always been ace at capturing the smallest details of life – on her last EP, she captured the span of seconds where relationships bloom and wither excellently – and new song “Keep Silence” does it again. It’s about a pretty common experience, waiting for someone to call you back on the phone – the first line is “I used to hate the telephone” before Predawn details way she tries to ignore the lack of ringing in her life. From there, she slowly “learns patience” and accepts that she has to wait for the person on the other end of the line – though she never sounds thrilled about it, more accepting of how things are. It’s a charming slice of life song touching on something highly relateable to anyone who has ever left a voicemail and then waited to see if someone important would get back to you. Listen above.
