現在大阪で多くの素晴らしい音が誕生しています。今年の夏にも、現在の関西の音を象徴するといっても過言ではない、２つのコンピレーション・アルバムがリリースされました。最新のは”Yellow Print (Side-A)”で、”puredogma”からリリースされています。このアルバムを既に紹介しているブログ、Simon Saysによると、”puredogma”は、Solei Soleiいわく、”レーベルとかでは無くてこれを通してクリエイティブな事をやろう”というアイディアだそうです。Solei Soleiの”Olympic” は、ロンドンというよりはイビザのような雰囲気で、Outdoorminer(Cloudy Buseyの別プロジェクト)の “Love Has Them”は、現代版９０年代アシッド・ハウスのようです。Okaryu、watervehicleとchiccamagicaも参加していて、魅力的なトラックで溢れています。ダウンロードはこちらから。視聴は以下から。

大阪のDay Tripperも、アメリカのレーベルAstro Nauticoとタッグして、”7 By 7″をリリースしました。このプロジェクトではAstro Nautico所属のメンバー７人が黒澤明の七人の侍をサンプリングし、日本人のメンバー７人も同様に、ジョン・スタージェスの荒野の七人をサンプリングしています。お互いのカルチャーを分かち合うという意味で面白いコンセプトだな、と思ったのですが…それだけではありませんでした。楽曲の出来映えも素晴らしく、映画の台詞もふんだんに聴こえてきます…もちろん二カ国から。ダウンロードはこちらから。視聴は以下から。

    全く予想していなかった事が起きました…東京のCanopies And Drapesがヒップ・ホップに挑戦したみたいです。最近できた新しい音楽ブログ、Lights + Music（見てね！）が最近インタビューしたのですが、”Chocolate Song” という新曲にはなんとゲストとして、オノマトペ大臣が参加しています。Canopies And Drapesの可愛らしくドリーミーなサウンドはそのままに、ラップ・ビートを使って、オノマトペ大臣がその上にラップできるように作られています。でも正直言うと、Canopies And Drapesの曲をバックグラウンドに使う場合、ラップよりも歌もののほうがマッチする気はします。一番印象的だったディテールはというと、Canopies And Drapesが数回 “Lay yourself beside me”と歌うところで、Weekendの影響かな？と思いました。この可愛らしいディテールが、彼女のタレントを改めて感じさせてくれます。

  • Post Modern Team And Twangy Twangy Team Up For EP, Where The Action Is

    このEPは日本インディー・ポップ界のとても強力なタッグから生まれています。”Heartbreak”や”Never Let You Down”等、2012年度最高峰ともいえる曲をリリースした大阪のPost Modern Teamと、元Candy EyesのDai OgasawaraによるTwangy Twangyが、Canata Records(BOYISH, Elfs In Bloom)からスプリット・EPをリリースしました。 Post Modern Teamの”She Does Something To Me”では、彼らの普段のスタイルから離れ、新しい手法を模索しているようです。Sloppy Joeに近いテイストを感じます。ザ・スミスやザ・キュアー等のインディー・ポップとも比較されそうですが、曲を通して細かいディテールが詰め込まれていますし、コーラスも決してアンセムのような物ではありません。 Twangy Twangyの曲は電子楽器とアコースティック・ギターで構築されています。つぶやくようなボーカルにもう少しヴォリュームが必要かな、とは感じますが、とても美しい曲で、暑い八月中旬にはもってこいでしょう。ダウンロードはこちらから。また、視聴は以下から。 Where The Action Is EP by Canata Records

Osaka is teeming with great new music makers at the moment, and two compilations released this summer highlight some of the best the Kansai region has to offer. Yellow Print (Side-A) is the newest, a five-track EP released by something called “puredogma,” which contributor Solei Solei says is “an idea…to help us tackle some more creative endeavors” over at the Simon Says blog (who also wrote about this first). Whatever this will evolve in to, the music on this EP shines – Solei Solei’s dizzying “Olympic” sounds more suited for Ibiza than London, while Outdoorminer’s (Cloudy Busey under a different moniker) “Love Has Them” takes cues from ’90s acid house to construct a compelling number Contributions also come from Okaryu, watervehicle and chiccamagica. Earlier in the season, Osaka’s Day Tripper imprint (which features many artists who take part in the city’s INNIT parties) teamed up with American collective Astro Nautico to release 7 By 7. The project features seven artists from Astro Nautico sampling Akira Kurosawa’s The Seven Samurai to create new tracks, while the seven Japan-based music makers sampled John Sturges’ The Magnificent Seven for the same purpose. It’s an interesting idea for a project, having artists engage with famous films from different cultures, but it is more than just a thought exercise. 7 By 7 features a lot of great tracks…loaded with samples of dialogue from the movies…from both sides of the globe.
